Rules for Students & Teachers by John Cage

This morning I came across "Some Rules for Students and Teachers" written by John Cage. I immediately got excited about a few of them. For example:
RULE FOUR: Consider everything an experiment.
And then there's:
RULE SIX: Nothing is a mistake. There's no win and no fail, there's only make.
Pretty nice to think about and to keep in mind when making collages. I also liked this one:
RULE EIGHT: Don't try to create and analyze at the same time. They're different procedures.
That's a nice one that should keep the work flowing and help me to avoid being judgmental during the process. Cage sums up the list with a final hint:
HINT: . . .Save everything--it might come in handy later.
You can read his complete list here. I also found a great YouTube video featuring John Cage performing "Water Walk" on a 1950's television show.
